Nicholas Franco, M.D.

Dr. Franco received his Bachelor degree in Human Physiology with Honors at McGill University in Montreal and subsequently went on to complete a Masters degree in Kidney Physiology at the University of Sherbrooke in Quebec, Canada. He completed his medical education at the University of Montreal. He remained in Canada for his residency training in General Surgery at McGill University and his Urology residency training at the University of Toronto, where he was awarded the prestigious Gallie Teaching Prize in Surgery.. He continued advancing his career undergoing Fellowship training in Urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery at Louisiana State University and then advanced laparoscopic surgery at the University of California, Irvine.

Before arriving in Naples to join the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Franco held clinical faculty positions at Louisiana State University and Tulane University School of Medicine, where he served as Head of Female Urology and Reconstructive Urology. He has published many scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals, and is actively involved in clinical research, including nationally and internationally. He has also been invited as a visiting professor to numerous institutions in the US and abroad where he has performed surgery in such countries as Spain, Italy, Germany and Portugal. He has also pioneered several surgical procedures to correct urinary incontinence in both women and men.

His special areas of interest include urinary incontinence, minimally invasive pelvic reconstructive surgery and genito-urinary reconstructive surgery. He is currently involved in several clinical trials for treatments of bladder dysfunction and vaginal prolapse.

Dr. Franco is Board Certified, a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada .He is also included in Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctors” referral guide based upon physician-lead research and peer review by leading hospitals and medical professionals.
